China Chow is a British born actress and model. She is the daughter of the renowned London restaurateur Michael Chow, who owns the Mr Chow restaurant chain. Born in the year 1974 in London, England, China Chow spent her early years in London. When she was five years of age, her family shifted to New York. Chow‘s mother Tina Chow is a former model and designer. China Chow has multi-ethnic ancestry which includes German, Scottish, Japanese, and Chinese descent. She has a younger brother Max. The former Bond girl Tsai Chin is her aunt. She studied French at Le Lycee Francais de Los Angeles and also attended the Scripps College, where she received her bachelor degree in psychology.
China Chow spent many years as a successful model after finishing her graduation. She has modelled for DKNY, GAP, Tommy Hilfiger, Barney’s, Lane Crawford, and Shiseido. She learnt to draw with the help of Jean Michel Basquiat, a renowned artist and a family friend. According to her, art is the most genuine way to express oneself and she thinks that while cloths and food are essential part of living, art is an expressive form having no boundaries. While in Manhattan, she had the opportunity to connect with great artists including Keith Haring, Francesco Clemente, Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol, and Julian Schnabel.
