Chris Jansing

From 2010 to 2014, Jansing hosted her own show on MSNBC called "Jansing and Company" which marked the highlight of her career. Currently, she works as a news correspondent for NBC News and interviews politicians and covers all the White House political matters. Throughout her career, Jansing had ups and downs, especially when dealing with high-level politicians. One of the low points of her career was when she interviewed the now-president of the United States Donald J. Trump. A transcript from the televised interview:

CHRIS JANSING: You don't feel ill-served to go on, for example, a very popular talk radio show, and you didn't know the host was anti-Trump.

DONALD TRUMP: I don't mind that, you go into the enemy camp sometimes, to take on the enemy. He's not a very smart guy, not a very bright guy, and if you listen to the entire show -- You would say Donald Trump won that debate. I was on the show for 15 minutes.

Everybody that listened to that show, said you convinced me. I've had people call me who were going to vote against me, they listened to me, by the end of that show they wrote me too -- I have two or three letters. They wrote and said by the end of that show, you totally convinced me. So sometimes you go into unfriendly territory, that's part of the game.

CHRIS JANSING: And that's what you consider Wisconsin to be?

DONALD TRUMP: No, you said about a radio talk show host. That's what I mean about the dishonest media.

CHRIS JANSING: I'm asking you a question and allowing you to answer.

TRUMP: Excuse me. You're asking me about a show host. And I said that he is unfriendly territory. And you said, is that Wisconsin. That's so dishonest. That's called. You know what that's called? Dishonest reporting.

Jansing isn't the type to let one bad interview get her down and she quickly bounced back and held her own in the remainder of the interview. As far as career high points, Jansing herself would say that she looks back fondly on Monday, October 4th, 2010, when she began hosting her own show "Jansing and Company". After all, it is every reporters' dream to interview the U.S. President and have your own show. "Jansing and Company" aired weekdays at 10 a.m. eastern time for nearly four years. The show had a variety of high profile guests encompassing major names across the political spectrum. The show ended on June 13th, 2014 when Jansing took a new role at NBC as Senior White House Correspondent.

Personal Life:

Chris Jansing married Robert Jansing, a chemist who ran a chemistry lab, in 1982. Chris continued using her maiden name while she was working at WNYT but when she made her career move to NBC in 1998 she began using her husband's surname. She later said that she found Jansing was much easier for viewers to pronounce than Kapostasy and the switch would just be a quality of life change since she and others would use their names daily when reporting. Jansing would ultimately divorce Robert Jansing but even after the separation, she continued to his surname. The reason for the divorce was never made public and Jansing kept her personal life quite separate from her work and her on-air personality.

When she isn't working, Jansing enjoys making wedding cakes for close family or extraordinarily close friends. During an interview on "The Hill", Jansing revealed that being with close family and friends, traveling, meeting interesting people, experiencing new things, and throwing dinner parties are some of the things that make her the happiest. She even jokingly said if her life had a theme song it would be "Born to Run". During her career in journalism, Jansing earned several awards besides her Emmy in 1996 when she reported on the bombing at the Olympic Games in Atlanta. Jansing also earned the title of “Best Person” by the New York State Broadcasters Association for her work exposing the hunger situation in the state of New York. She was instrumental in exposing the plight of the hungry and homeless in one of the nation's wealthiest cities.
