David Maurice Robinson was born on August 6, 1965 in Key West, Florida. His parents, Ambrose and Freda Robinson were happy to welcome their son into the world. As a child, he was moving a lot because of his father’s job. During his formative years, David studied at Osbourn Park High School in Manassas, Virginia. Due to his tall height, he took part in various basketball teams as a teenager. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy specializing in Math.

Following his father’s footsteps, Robinson became a civil engineering officer at the Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay in Georgia. During his higher education, he was also trying to get involved in athletics. He did not expect to have such big success, but two years later, he became the winner of the Naismith and Wooden Awards.

At the age of 22, the San Antonio Spurs invited David Robinson to sign a contract and become part of their team. For several years, he played for the Spurs. Robinson helped his team to come to the greatest single-season turnaround in NBA history at the time. He won the gold medal in Barcelona in 1992. When David was 31 years old, he got named to the list of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History.

In 1997, due to his back injury, Robinson was not able to play several games, though the team was still able to win some games. His injury ended up being good luck for the team because they were able to secure the number one draft pick and select future Hall of Famer, Tim Duncan. After some treatment was made, David returned to his favorite occupation of playing basketball. Before going into his retirement from basketball in 2003, he took part in various final games and matches. He helped his team, the San Antonio Spurs to win another NBA title.

Robinson had a total of 13 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in his final game for the Spurs. According to the official NBA numbers, his stats were nearly 21.1 points per game, 10.7 rebounds per game, 3 blocks per game, and 2.5 assists per game over 987 games in his NBA career He is one of only a few players that has ever scored over 20,000 career points in the NBA. He is also one of only five players to record more than 70 points in a single game.
