George Brett

George Brett was born in the year 1953 and he is an American retired professional who played as baseball third baseman and he was a designed hitter. He played for over 21 year in MLB under Kansas City Royals.

In his career, he has 3,154 hits and they are the highest for all the third basemans in the history of Major League. He is 16th all-time. He is among the four players in the history of the MLB to get to 3,000 hits, to 300 home runs and with a career of 300 batting average. The others who reached these stats are Stan Musial, Willie Mays and Hank Aaron. He was inducted to be in Baseball Hall of fame in the year 1999 and it was with the first ballot. He is the player who has been able to win the batting title in 3 decades.

George Brett was called Royals’ Interim Hitting coach of 2013 but he stopped down this position so that he can continue with the position he had of being vice president for the baseball operations.

From his biography, George Brett was born in West Virginia on Glen Dale and he was the youngest for the sons of the sports minded family members like Ken who was the second oldest and he was the major league pitcher and was in 1967 World Series when he was only 19 years old. His eldest brothers John and Bobby had Brief careers where in the minor league. While growing up, he wanted to be in the footsteps of his brother and he graduated with El Segundo High School in 1971 and he was chosen to join the Kansas City Royals on its second round and he was on 1971 baseball draft. He was in the high school together with his teammate Scott McGregor.

Before joining the mlb, he started to play in minor league and he was a shortstop but had some trouble to go to the right defensive and he was shifted to a third base. While playing as a third baseman, he had a powerful arm that continued to be his asset and he continued to be on the same sport for over 15 years. He played in many teams at the minor level and they are California, San Jose, Rookie League, Montana and Billings. For the single A, he played in Omaha, Nebraska and in the year 1973, for the Triple-A he played with Omaha Royals.

In the year 1973, he was promoted by the Royals to join the major league august of 1973 and he played over 134 games and he was 5 over 40 when he was 20 years.
