Related Biography: Lisa LaFlamme

Born in May 2, 1967, she is a native of Buffalo, Minnesota. She studied at the Plymouth State College of New Hampshire University. She received her bachelor’s degree in Meteorology and also did a minor in math. She graduated magna cum laude in broadcast journalism at the University of Minnesota-Minneapolis before studying Meteorology. She is married and has a son and daughter.

Profession

Before starting her career as weather reporter, she held positions as broadcast journalist in Georgia, Corpus Christi, Brunswick, and Texas. Soon after she joined WXPT-TV as meteorologist and later on moved to WGME-TV situated in Portland Maine. She worked for two years at WGAL-TV located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and then moved to WCCO-TV situated in Minneapolis. She joined The Weather Channel in 1999. She was with the channel for 14 years before she quit her job at TWC in the year 2012. Tesch is a member at the American Meteorological society and also has an AMS Seal of Approval.

Assignments

Heather has spent nearly 14 years at TWC forecasting the weather and bringing news to the viewers about every climatic upheaval including hurricanes, droughts, fires, and blizzards. She has reported on the approach of Sandy storm, Katrina Hurricane, and the tornado threat in Joplin Missouri. She has also fostered kittens abandoned in the massive tornado of 2011 that affected the Ringgold area, Georgia.

Care of Animals 

Heather Tesch loves animals and is especially fond of kittens. She has five cats and had a dog named Doppler, who passed away recently.  She has used her popularity to bring public attention to the state of homeless animals. She has put in tremendous effort to produce Pet Patrol segments that focus on adoption of pets and contain features on animal care and wellbeing. Her stories on pet animals are highly informative and have been frequently featured on Weather.com and TWC.

After she quit her job at TWC as meteorologist, she is working on a few projects. She is planning to explore newer areas in weather forecast in television, and also wants to be actively involved in projects that will foster her passion for animals. She is interested in décor, crafts, and DIY projects which she plans to expand on the internet and television as a prospective career in the near future.
