Background and Age

Mark Kelley graduated from Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec.

Career and Net Worth

Mark Kelley came to the CBC in the 1990s. Prior to that, he had limited his area of reporting to Quebec for almost a decade. The early 2000s saw him anchoring the popular ‘CBC News: Disclosure’, with Diana Swain and the show came to be known as an excellent piece of investigative journalism.

His work on CBC News Network from 2009-2012 on ‘Connect with Mark Kelley’ in which he lived the experiences before reporting them, won him many accolades. Mark Kelley’s hard work and dedicated efforts were not in vain. His work on ‘Connect’ won him the Gemini Award in 2011, in the category of ‘Best Host or Interviewer’, on any News Program. Four other Gemini Awards were awarded to him for his efforts on CBC News: Disclosure, CBC News: Morning, The National and CBC’s Beijing Olympic broadcast.

He has covered some of the most dramatic stories in recent years and is always a frontrunner for obtaining any piece of relevant information. As his career started to progress, Kelley started to concentrate more on investigative reporting instead of on general reporting. The emphasis was on controversial issues. That led to some firsthand disclosures of dramatic events from all over the world. He covered events like the tsunami ravaged Indonesia of 2004, the status of the Canadian mission to Afghanistan, a peek into the Netherlands' psychosis on the growing anti-Muslim stance. He also reported on the Halifax crash of Swissair Flight 111 and the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center.

After a brilliant career for almost two decades with CBC News, he changed his work area. In 2012, he joined the newsmagazine, ‘The Fifth Estate’. He was always interested in bringing all stories dear to every Canadian’s heart before them irrespective of any hurdles. His ability to adapt to any circumstances for the sake of enlightening his people is noteworthy.

Mark started on a novel named ‘7’ in November 2006. The title ‘7’ denoted seven days spent by Kelley in someone else’s shoes to get a direct experience of the whole incident. This ranged from stepping into a teacher’s shoes and spending seven days in British Columbia’s most troubled high school or getting to know how the homeless live by staying a few days in a homeless shelter in Montreal.

Marriage, Wife, and Kids

Mark Kelley met the love of his life, Angela Yazbek when he got his first job at CBC in 1993. He was doing a bad job so CBC sent in a producer to support him. Angela turned his career around and won his love at the same time. She quit TV production and started raising their kids. They had four young men in four quick years.

Their first date was a Tony Bennett show at the Theater Capitole in Quebec City. A few years later, Mark was excited to see Tony and thank him for assisting with bringing his better half to him.
