Foster, who is half Swedish, was born and brought up in England. He graduated from the Cardiff University where he studied Business Administration. He completed his post-graduate studies in Broadcast Journalism in Portsmouth at the Highbury College. He is married and lives with his wife and three children in Berkshire.

Profession

Foster began his reporting career, when he was 16 years old at the Hospital radio Swindon. He did his own weekly program there. While studying in college, he worked as reporter for the local BBC office. He was later offered a job at BBC Radio Five. He soon after landed a job at BBC Wiltshire Sound, where he worked for two years. He then moved to BBC World Service when he was 24 years old. He later shifted to BBC TV focusing on business programs and anchored the Business Breakfast BBC World and the Working Lunch show. He later joined CNN after serving over a decade in BBC. After reporting the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, he was given the title of royal correspondent and travelled with them when they toured North America and south Pacific region.

Notable Assignments

Foster has reported on the Asian Financial Crisis, the introduction of Euro, and the online banking exclusive story which had led to a major bank closing down its website. His major stories include the 2006 Lebanon war, the London car bombing in 2007, Hurricane Katrina and its effect on the levees near New Orleans, the 2008 Mumbai attack, the street art movement on Adam Neate and Banksy and the Stephanie Meyer interview that was widely acclaimed and featured in many books as well as magazine publications. He has interviewed many high profile personalities in all fields including Prime Ministers of Iraq, Sweden, Haiti and Britain, the presidents of Maldives, Georgia and the European Commission and business icons like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and George Soros.

In 2013, Foster replaced Richard Quest and became the anchor of the show ‘Marketplace Europe’, which is a weekly show at CNN that holds interviews with leading chief executives from the continent. He also hosts forums like the Astana Economic Forum, the Global Tourism Forum of UNWTO and the ATAG Aviation and Environment Summit. He was also the first to interview Prince William after the birth of his son George on the conservation of endangered species. The interview is to be aired in September on CNN internationally.
