Robert Lewandowski was born on August 21, 1988 in Warsaw, Poland to Krzysztof and Iwona Lewandowska. His parents were both involved in sports. His father was a judo champion and mother was a professional volleyball player. His father died in the 2005. He also has siblings, Robert is actually the one of the five children of his parents including his sister Milena. Robert was raised by his grandmother, because of divorce of his parents.
He began his professional career in the 1997. During his youth career time he was a player for Delta Warsaw since 1997 till 2005. Afterwards he was a member of the Legia Warsaw II club. In the 2006 he enrolled to Znicz Pruszkow team where he was a striker for two years. During these years he becomes a top goal scorer for two years in a line with fifteen and twenty one goals. In the 2008 Robert signed a deal with another team Lech Pozna? for 1.5 million zlotys. At the same time he also competes to the Sporting Gijon team but he was rejected. At first he appeared as Lech member in a first round of UEFA Cup against Khazar Lenkoran, where he scored his first ball. Robert played for Lech Poznan for two years until he moved to Borussia Dortmund club in the 2010.
He signed a four year deal and made his first appearance against German team Schalke 04. He played as Dortmund member till 2014, when he signed contract with Bayern Munich. The final match for Borussia Dortmund was against future Robert’s team Bayern Munich at the 2014 DFB-Pokal Final. Robert signed a deal for a five year and started his new career way as Bayern Munich player at the 2014–15 season. During the first game Robert scored one goal. Afterwards he scored one more in the game in Portland, but it was the only one so his team loses with 1-2 to their rivals. Recently in December of 2016 Robert signed another contract with Bayern Munich for five years more until 2021.
In addition Robert is a member of Poland National team since 2008. Previously, at the same year he also was a player for Poland Under-21 team. Being one of the best strikers of national team he also was involved at Euro 2012 and Euro 2016. He became a team captain in the 2014. During his first game at the 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign he scored two penalties goals during the match against San Marino. He also made a record by scoring thirteen goals during UEFA European Championship qualifying in the 2016.
Robert is married to Anna Lewandowska. His wife is a Polish athlete. The couple was married on June 22, 2013 in Warsaw. Currently Robert and his wife are expecting their first child.
