The birth of Sir Roger Penrose took place at Colchester, England. He was born on 8th August 1931. Roger grew up in a family which was well known in England for their intellectual achievements. His father Lionel Penrose was a geneticist and was also a fellow member of Royal Society. He has two siblings who also went to study science. The elder one Oliver became a mathematician and the other Jonathan became a psychologist. His brother Jonathan was a British Chess Champion for 10 consecutive years, from 1950-1960.

Education

The educational record of Roger Penrose is just as glorious as his family's qualification history. Roger Penrose went to University College, London for his undergraduate degree and later on he went to Cambridge to earn his Ph.D. His interest towards mathematics made him participate in pure researches. He began his research in algebraic geometry. His work in Algebra and Geometry impressed the people around him.

In 1964 Penrose started working as a reader at Birkbeck Collage. After couple of years he was promoted as a professor of Applied Mathematics. He was appointed in oxford university as a Rouse Ball Professor of mathematics in the year 1973. He earned a huge net worth through his career.

In his research career Roger Penrose worked with Stephen Hawking. They both collaboratively studied about black holes and identified many characteristics about it. Their research played an important role in studying black holes.

Besides this Penrose also made an extensive research in quantum mechanics. When he was working at Cambridge he created mathematical models of quantum mechanics. He created it using basic elements from real number. Along with the quantum mechanics and geometry Penrose also made a valuable contribution in study of tiling. Tiling is a method that is utilized for covering an entire plane with polygons. This was an ambitious research which was helpful for many innovations.

Penrose became world famous with his book "The Emperor's New Mind". The book became really popular and was considered as one of the best sellers. The book is considered as one of the best book written on modern science. Roger Penrose's name is taken with immanence respect as a science philosopher.

According to his biography Rodger Penrose married twice. He married to Joan Isabel Wedge in 1959. He has three sons from his first wife. Later he married to Vanessa Thomas who is a director of Academic Development. He has one son from his second wife.

Roger Penrose received many awards and acclamations in his life. The reference of his work collaborated with Stephen Hawking is referred even today. He shared his knowledge with others through his books and essays and lecture. Their references are even used today by many students of science.
