Xavier Doherty

Xavier Doherty was born in the city of Scottsdale in Tasmania in 1982. He is a cricketer of Australian origins and his bowling style is left-arm orthodox spin. Domestically, he plays for Tasmania while internationally, he plays for Australia. He is left-handed batsman with a slow left arm orthodox bowler. After playing one-day successfully under Tasmania, he started to play for One Day International Debut under Australia while playing at Melbourne Cricket ground against Sri Lanka. Later that month, he opened the Test Debut while playing with England at Gabba. He was replacing Nathan Hauritz who is an off spinner. He did not join the squad of 2011 World Cup since he was suffering back injury.

Xavier Doherty is playing the cricket in Sandy bay Cricket club and in South Hobart. He was also the player for U-19 Cricket World Cup that took place in New Zealand. He began to play the cricket when he was in his home town and was playing for George Town cricket club. This is where he debuted NTCA when he was 12 years old. Afterwards, he moved to play in Launceston Cricket Club. He took 4/46 from a 10 overs with a ball and it was playing against Sri Lanka during a One Day International, but they lost.

This showed that Xavier will be able to make Ashes and Test debut at once.

His first Test Wicket is when he dismissed Ian Bell during Brisbane game while he recalled once against the 2013 Test Series while playing against India. He was playing 2nd and 3rd tests of these series. In the 2tests, his figures became 4/242. He has been given an ODI Award. He made his ipl’s debut at Saurashtra Cricket Association stadium. He is married and his wife is Emma Doherty. He had to return to his home at Hobart when Emma was getting their first baby. During that time, he was left out from the warm up of Twenty20 against England and New Zealand.

Xavier Doherty has always been the best limited-overs cricket and he has been mostly the first choice of the team when it comes to a slow bowler. The first time that he was given a green bag, he struggled to make impact during two ashes Tests when he was playing at Adelaide Oval and Gabba. He was able to collect 3 wickets for over 306 runs and it was around two and half years up to the time that he was given a new chance to play test cricket In India.
