Diego Maradona, is regarded as the greatest football player the world has so far seen. He was born on October 30, 1960, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Maradna was the first son, after his parents had three daughters. Despite being brought up under extreme financial crisis, Maradona developed his knack for football at a very tender age. The lack of financial stability did not hinder in his growing interest for the game. At the age of only 3 he received his first football as a gift and since then he has always been devoted towards achieving the best. He was hailed as the captain of Argentina. In 1990 World cup Maradona again served as the captian of the Argentinean team. However, his performance was not up the mark due to a severe ankle injury. Regardless of his short height, Maradona’s incomparable ball control, speed, vision and reflexes made him memorable even in today’s era. His career reached the summit when the Argentinean team won the World Cup of 1986. He was honoured with the nick name “El Pibe de Oro" which meant The Golden Boy. On 7th of November 1984 Maradona married his longtime fiancée Claudia Villafañe. Though blessed with two children, Dalma and Gianinna the couple got divorced in 2004. From 1980 to 2004, Diego Maradona remained a drug addict, which adversely affected both his health as well as his performance. Although he relocated to Cuba and tried to maintain a drug rehab plan, things did not get any better. He majorly suffered from a myocardial infarction followed by a cocaine overdose in 2004.

At an age of 57 his salary is approximately calculated to be about £3 million annually.
