After high school, she enrolled at George Washington University, where she studied for one year. Rooney Mara made her screen debut in 2005 with a role in the horror film Urban Legends: Bloody Mary. She subsequently made television appearances, including a guest role on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and in the legal drama Women’s Murder Club in 2007. Her feature film debut came in 2008 with the independent film Dream Boy.
