Early Life and Education

Aaron Tveit was born on October 21, 1983, in Middletown, New York. He attended Middletown High School, graduating in 2001. Raised Catholic, Tveit actively participated in extracurricular activities throughout his school years. He was involved in school theater productions and was also a versatile athlete, playing football, basketball, and soccer.

Although initially offered a business scholarship, he chose to pursue a major in vocal performance, enrolling at Ithaca College. With the support of his parents, he later switched to musical theater. Aaron left college at the age of 20 to join the national tour of the musical Rent. In 2012, more than a decade after leaving, he was awarded his degree, with his professional stage credits contributing toward completion.

Stage Success with Next to Normal and Catch Me If You Can

Aaron Tveit began his professional acting career in theater, with early performances at venues such as the North Shore Music Theatre and the Barrington Stage Company. He gained widespread recognition for his role as Gabe in the Pulitzer Prize-winning rock musical Next to Normal. His performance earned him nominations for the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Featured Actor and won him the Helen Hayes Award for Best Supporting Performance.

He continued his success on stage with the lead role of Frank Abagnale Jr. in the Broadway musical Catch Me If You Can, further cementing his reputation as a versatile and dynamic performer. His other notable stage credits include Wicked, Hairspray, Saved, Assassins, The Three Musketeers, and Rent.
