2015 Assault and Aftermath

On October 1, 2015, Ahmet Hakan Coşkun was physically attacked by four men outside his home in Istanbul, sustaining a broken nose and broken ribs. The assault was widely condemned internationally, including by the OSCE and the Council of Europe, as an attack on press freedom in Turkey, and led to a trial of seven suspects. After recovering, he returned to his professional duties and has remained active in journalism and media.
