In 2011, Posey's momentum was temporarily halted due to a serious injury sustained in a home-plate collision with Scott Cousins of the Florida Marlins. The injury caused him to miss the remainder of the season. However, he made a remarkable comeback in 2012, earning a .336 batting average to win the NL batting title. He became only the second San Francisco Giant to win the title and was named the National League Most Valuable Player (MVP) that same season.
