After the retirement, he opened the Pontiac Dealership in Cleveland Suburb in Euclid in the year 1992. This dealership had already been closed. The family of Matthews became the winners and he was among the finalist. However, he was not able to win the grand prize of 10,000 dollars since he was not able to answer the right age to become a US president.
Clay Matthews is also a son to Clay Matthews Sr who also played in NFL. Two of his son was able to join the football team of USC and another one joined football team of University of Oregon. Kyle Mathew is a safety of USC and of Clay Matthews III. He was drafted to be Green Bay Packers. He played as a linebacker in University of Oregon and he was selected for its round 4 in the NFL Draft of Philadelphia Eagles.
