Dan Schneider was born in 1966 and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, by his parents, Carol and Harry Schneider. He briefly attended Harvard University, completing only one semester before returning to Memphis, where he worked repairing computers. Eventually, Schneider relocated to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career, which later transitioned into screenwriting and television production.
Throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, Schneider appeared in several films and television shows, often in supporting roles. His film credits include Better Off Dead, Making the Grade, Hot Resort, Happy Together, and The Big Picture. In 1986, he began playing Dennis Blunden on the ABC sitcom Head of the Class, a role he held throughout the show's five-season run until 1991.
In 1993, Schneider starred in the short-lived series Home Free. The following year, he portrayed Shawn Eckhardt in the television movie Tonya & Nancy: The Inside Story, a dramatization of the scandal involving figure skaters Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan. In addition to his acting, Schneider also made cameo appearances in various series and gradually transitioned into producing and writing for television.
