Background

Danny's mother is Samoan and his father has Peruvian roots. He constantly speaks with pride and happiness about his Samoan heritage. He often wears a lavalava which is a traditional Polynesian cloth worn like a kilt or skirt, similar to the Scottish.

Shelton went to classes in Auburn Senior High School in Auburn, Washington, where he played the rough sport of football. He was super talented athlete that also competed in track and wrestling.

Danny was a four-star recruit and rated as the 10th best defensive tackle by Rivals.com. Due to his high profile, Shelton was recruited by many colleges before committing to play college football at the University of Washington in January 2011.

Career

Daniel was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Personal Life

Shelton and his brothers were involved in an altercation at an apartment complex in Auburn, Washington on May 1, 2011. According to official statements, Shelton's brother, Gaston Shelton, was at a friend's apartment when a fight between a group of men occurred. The incident gave Danny negative press.
