David Moscow was born in 1974 in New York City, United States. He is the son of Patricia and Jon Moscow. His mother is from Murray, Utah, and comes from a Mormon background, while his father is Jewish. Despite the religious backgrounds of his parents, Moscow was not raised practicing either faith. He later attended Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, where he pursued higher education.
David Moscow gained widespread recognition for his role as the young Josh Baskin in the 1988 film Big. In the acclaimed movie, his character is magically transformed into an adult, portrayed by Tom Hanks. Moscow’s performance received notable attention and helped establish his early acting career.
Following his success in Big, Moscow went on to star in the 1992 musical film Newsies, where he worked alongside actors Max Casella and Luke Edwards, who became his friends.
