Duff Goldman

Educational Background

Goldman earned degrees in history and philosophy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Though initially drawn to academia, his passion for food led him to pursue formal culinary training at the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in St. Helena, California.

Early Interest in Cooking

Goldman's fascination with cooking began early. At the age of four, he was spotted by his mother swinging a meat cleaver while watching the television show Chef Tell. His early attempts in the kitchen included a mishap in second grade when he nearly severed his pinkie while carving a pumpkin. Unshaken by the incident, he took it as a sign of his enduring commitment to working in the culinary arts.

Professional Beginnings

At 14, Goldman secured his first job in the food industry at a local bagel shop. Though he faced an early challenge—nearly getting fired for making overly generous sandwiches that pleased customers but depleted inventory—he remained undeterred. This experience marked the beginning of his fearless and unconventional culinary journey.
