Eamonn Holmes is from Northern Ireland and is perhaps best known for being the presenter for GMTV’s Sky News Sunrise from 2005 to 2016. Eamonn Holmes was born on December 3, 1959, in Belfast, Northern Ireland; he attended Holy Family Primary School. Holmes went on to study journalism at the Dublin School of Business Studies. Before going into broadcasting, Eamonn Holmes worked for a Dublin-based business magazine. He joined Ulster Television in 1979 and reported on farming, winning a Hometown Radio Award. Holmes writes a column for The People newspaper and released his autobiography; This is MY Life, in 2006. Holmes was appointed as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for services to broadcasting in 2018.
Eamonn Holmes married Ruth Langsford in June of 2010; the couple sold the exclusive rights for coverage of the wedding ceremony to Hello! magazine; which featured the event over two issues in July of 2010. The couple has a son, Jack Alexander Holmes, who was born in 2002. Eamonn Holmes also has three other children from a previous marriage named Decian, Rebecca, and Niall. The couple supported the Dementia Friends Campaign, an Alzheimer’s Society initiative, and is a patron of Dogs Trust.
