Edited Biography
Carroll Randall was born on April 13, 1991. He is the son of Craig Carroll and Landra Andrews. The couple has three children—Chase, Rashad, and Carroll—forming a close-knit family. Carroll is an American football player primarily known for playing as a wide receiver, though he has also filled in at the defensive back position when needed.
Carroll attended Cathedral High School in California, where his passion for football became evident. During his high school years, he played various roles including running back, cornerback, and his specialty position—wide receiver. Apart from football, Carroll excelled in track and field, becoming the California high school state champion in both the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints in 2009.
Following high school, Carroll enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he played as a wide receiver for the UCLA Bruins between 2009 and 2011. In his senior year of high school, he recorded 31 receptions totaling 564 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed 73 times for 543 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns. He was named to the USA Today All-USA First Team in 2008, a prestigious honor recognizing top-performing high school athletes nationally.
Despite his athletic talent, Carroll’s tenure at UCLA was marred by disciplinary challenges. In January 2012, he, along with teammates Raymond Nelson and Wesley Flowers, was dismissed from the team. New head coach Jim Mora made the decision, citing academic ineligibility in Carroll’s case, while the others were removed for violating team rules.
Previously, Carroll was suspended in 2009 for conduct-related issues and for reportedly violating team rules. He also stirred controversy by posting a sarcastic tweet about then-offensive coordinator Norm Chow. In another incident, he was among six players suspended following a bench-clearing brawl during a game against Arizona. These disruptions overshadowed what many considered to be a promising athletic career at the college level.
In addition to football, Carroll gained national attention for his speed on the track. In 2009, he recorded a wind-legal time of 10.30 seconds in the 100-meter dash during the Del Rey League, earning recognition as the fastest sprint by an American football player at the high school level that year. This time placed him among the all-time best, behind only Henry Thomas, Ricky Carrigan, and Riley Washington.
Carroll also won consecutive CIF state titles in the 100-meter and 200-meter events, a feat previously achieved only by Charlie Paddock in 1917 and 1918. These accomplishments contributed significantly to his selection for the USA Today All-USA team.
Carroll signed with the Seattle Seahawks on July 29, 2014, wearing jersey number 16. Although not widely recognized for major endorsements, his income primarily derives from his professional football contract. As of now, he has not made any public indications about pursuing marriage or long-term personal commitments.
