Charlie Strong is an American football coach and former player, best known for his head coaching roles at multiple prominent football programs. He served as the head coach at the University of Louisville from 2010 to 2013, where he compiled an impressive 37–15 record. Under his leadership, the Louisville Cardinals appeared in a bowl game in each of his four seasons, including a notable victory in the 2013 Sugar Bowl against the University of Florida.
Following his success at Louisville, Strong became the head football coach at the University of Texas in 2014. He signed a five-year contract worth $5 million annually, making him one of the highest-paid coaches in college football at the time.

Strong played collegiate football at the University of Central Arkansas, where he lettered as a defensive back for four years. He began his coaching track as a graduate assistant at the University of Florida in 1983, followed by a similar role at Texas A&M University in 1985. He later earned a Master’s degree and an Education Specialist degree from the University of Florida. He is also a member of the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity.
