Who is David Morse?
David Morse is an American actor, singer, writer, and director who is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Dr. Jack Morrison in the medical drama series St. Elsewhere. David Bowditch Morse was born on October 11, 1953, in Beverly, Massachusetts; his mother was a school teacher and his father was a sales manager. Morse studied acting at William Esper Studio and started his acting career working at the Boston Repertory Theatre. David Morse film credits include Disturbia (2007), The Hurt Locker (2009), Collaborator (2011), World War Z (2013), and The Gettysburg Address. Morse was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for his work in the 1999 film, The Green Mile. In addition to St. Elsewhere, Morse has appeared on television in Hack, John Adams, Medium, Empire State, Treme, True Detective, and Blindspot.
Morse received an Emmy Award Nomination for his portrayal of detective Michael Tritter on the television series, House. His second Emmy Award nomination was for his role of George Washington on the HBO mini-series, John Adams. David Morse has been married to the actress and writer Susan Wheeler Duff Morse since 1982, the couple has one daughter, Eliza, and twin boys, Benjamin and Samuel; the family lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
