Derek Carr is known as an American football quarterback for the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League. He is most famous for being drafted by the Raiders in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
Derek Dallas Carr was born on March 28, 1991 in Fresno, California. He was born as the most youthful of three children. His folks are Rodger and Sheryl Carr. He went to Clements High School before they relocated to Sugar Land, Texas and later back to Bakersfield where he finished his senior year of high school at Bakersfield Christian High School.
Following an amazing junior high school football career, Derek Carr got school offers from California State University Fresno State, Southern Methodist University, Boise State University, the University of Southern California, and the University of California, Los Angeles. Derek Carr made a verbal pledge to Fresno State which he kept to when he left high school in 2008. He was named the 2009 National Player of the Year by the National Private Schools Athletic Association.
Derek's college football career started with Fresno State in the spring of 2009, he was redshirted till 2011 as lead trainer Pat Hill felt Ryan Colburn was superior to him as a quarterback. He found a spot in the starting line up in the fall of 2011 and in three years with the group, he recorded 12,843 passing yards and 113 touchdowns. Derek Carr was granted the MWC Offensive Player of the Year for the 2012 season, 2013 CFPA Elite QB Award and the Sammy Baugh Trophy.
Derek discovered his way into the NFL in the 2014 NFL Draft as the 36th overall pick in the second round of the draft when he was chosen by the Oakland Raiders. On May 21, 2014, he agreed on a four-year contract worth $5.37 million with $2.2 million as a signing bonus. He played with the Raiders from 2014 through 2017 setting up amazing performances in each game and in this way proving himself fundamental for the group. After some rough injuries, he has been able to get back on track. In September 2019, in week two of the NFL season, Derek Carr threw two interceptions as his team lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Derek Carr is married to Heather Neel with whom he raises two children, Dallas, and Deker Luke. The pre-marriage ceremony between the two took place on June 29, 2012, in a Christian wedding function.
