Who is Evgenia Medvedeva?

Evgenia Medvedeva is a Russian figure skater and two time world champion; at the 2017 world championships she became the first female skater to win consecutive world championships since 2000-2001, when <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelle_Kwan">Michelle Kwan</a> did so. Evgenia Armanovna Medvedeva was born on November 19, 1999, in Moscow, Russia; her mother is a former Russian figure skater and her father is an Armenian businessman. Medvedeva began to skate at the age of three and made her senior national debut at the 2012 Russian Championships. Medvedeva is a two-time European champion, a two time Grand Prix Final champion, and a two-time Russian national champion. In 2017, Medvedeva ranked fourteenth on Business Insider magazine’s list of the top 50 most dominant athletes. Medvedeva appeared on the front cover of Elle Girl Russia and has sponsorships with Gold Seal (a blade manufacturer), Edea (a skate boot company), Nike, and Pantene.

At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Gangneung, South Korea, Medvedeva won silver medals for both the ladies’ single event and the team event. In May of 2018, Medvedeva announced that she was leaving her longtime Russian <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eteri_Tutberidze">coach</a> <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eteri_Tutberidze">Eteri Tutberidze</a> and relocating to Toronto to train under the Canadian former competitive figure skater and now <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Orser">coach</a> <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Orser">Brian Orser</a>. Medvedeva will continue to represent Russia while living and training in Toronto, Canada.
