Fred Norris is an American comedian and radio personality and a long term member of The Howard Stern Show. The Howard Stern Show is an American talk radio show that gained notoriety for its offbeat humor during its national syndication from 1986 to 2005. Since 2005, The Howard Stern Show has been an exclusive of Sirius XM satellite radio. Fred Norris was born Fred Leo Nukis on July 9, 1955, in Willimantic, Connecticut; he is the son of Latvian immigrants. Fred Norris met Howard Stern when the two worked the overnight shift together a WCCC, a Harford, Connecticut radio station, during the spring of 1979. Stern left the radio station (after a request for a twenty five dollar raise was denied) and took a job in Springfield, Massachusetts, but Norris stayed behind.
Stern’s show became popular when he was at WWDC in Washington D.C. and he persuaded that station to hire Norris as a producer in 1981. The two men have been business associates ever since. Fred Norris met his wife, Allison Furman, on The Howard Stern Show during a comic segment known as “Dial-a-Date” in 1994; the couple had a child, a daughter named Tess, who was born in 2002.
