Gabriela Alejandra Frias, 42 years old, was born and brought up in Mexico City. She did her Bachelor’s degree in Journalism at the Carlos Septien School of Journalism situated in Mexico City. She graduated with honors and worked initially as assistant director at the Department of External Relations belonging to the American Chamber of Commerce of Mexico City. She worked for two years over there. She is fluent in Spanish, French, and English.
Profession
Gabriela’s career in journalism started in the year 1997, when she began working for Reforma Newspaper, which is one of the leading daily newspapers in Mexico. She was involved in reporting corporate events coverage which included reporting on both private as well as public business establishments and the issues they faced both nationally and internationally. She then became the co-anchor at Negocios Mexico, which was a joint venture of CNN en Espanol and Reforma. She was in charge of the weekly analysis of business events in the stock markets at Mexico and New York. She joined CNN en Espanol in the year 2000 and started as the producer for the show ‘Economia y Finanzas’ which is a 30 minutes prime time show. She was also a fill in anchor for the show. In 2002, she became the producer and presenter of the show ‘En Effectivo’.
Achievements
Gabriela Frias has taken on many responsibilities during her broadcasting career. She has been in charge of creating content, deciding on the guests to be interviewed, and she also participates in the research as well as editing of the contents to be aired. She also pitched in as substitute anchor for the show she produced. She has over the course of her decade long career interviewed high profile economic officials and business heads belonging to diverse sectors like aviation, telephone, communications, automotive, paper, construction, and music.
Frias was a member of the team of students who had graduated from the INCAE University in Costa Rica in 2007. She graduated in the High Management Program conducted by the university which focused on preparing students and educating them about the responsibilities involved in the public and the private sector. She was also selected by the Latin American Association (LAA) to emcee the Latin Fever Ball: Mexico: Serenata de Colores that was held in Buckhead, Atlanta at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
