Helen Skelton is an English television presenter and actress who is best known for her work on the BBC television program Blue Peter. Helen Elizabeth Skelton was born on July 19, 1983, in Kirkby Thore, Cumbria, England; she was raised on a dairy farm in the village of Kirkby Thore. Helen attended Appleby Grammar school, continuing her schooling at Cumbria Institute of the Arts where she received a Bachelor of Arts in journalism. Before becoming breakfast presenter on BBC Radio Cumbria in 2005 (she was one of the youngest presenters for BBC network at that time), Helen worked in the news room at CFM Radio and was involved with various programs at Border Television. In 2008, Helen became the thirty-third presenter for the Blue Peter program and she held the job until 2013. Helen did other work while at Blue Peter, including covering the tennis championship matches at Wimbledon.
In 2011, Helen walked a one hundred fifty meter tightrope that was suspended between two chimneys sixty six feet above the ground to raise money for Comic Relief. Helen holds two world records in kayaking, including the longest solo kayak journey (2010 miles) and the longest distance by kayak in twenty four hours by a woman. Helen next became a presenter of live FA Women’s Super League football. Helen Skelton is married to Richie Myler. The couple has two children, both boys, named Ernie Myler, born in 2015, and Louis Myler, born in 2017.
