In 2006, Johnson's relatively normal college life would change forever during a football game in Neyland Stadium when he was tackled and sustained a life-threatening injury.

Johnson didn't let the heartbreaking injury defeat him, he decided to finish his schooling and obtained a master's degree in sports psychology from the University of Tennessee. He has since made his living as a motivational speaker and spends much of his time mentoring athletes and underprivileged youth. Johnson married his wife Allison and the pair went on to have two children named Jada and Inky Jr. The family currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia, and Johnson continues to tour the country speaking before executives, churches, sports teams, and youth.
