Jacques Pépin is a globally known French- American cook, TV personality, and author. Since the late 1980s, he has showed up on French and American TV and composed a variety of cookbooks that have turned out to be smash hits.
Background
Jacques Pépin was born on December 18, 1935 in Bourg-en-Bresse, France. His first introduction to cooking was as a youngster in his folks' restaurant, Le Pelican. At age thirteen, he started his formal apprenticeship at the recognized Grand Hotel de L'Europe in the country where he grew up. He worked in Paris, preparing food under Lucien Diat at the Plaza Athénée.
Career
From 1956 to 1958, Pépin was the sole gourmet expert to three French heads of state, including Charles de Gaulle. Pépin was granted the most astounding honor by the French Government and holds the title of CHEVALIER DE L'ORDRE NATIONAL DE LA LEGION D'HONNEUR. Pépin is the host of numerous prevalent cooking TV programs, including his most recent series Jacques Pépin: More Fast Food My Way, which debuted in October, 2008. Including formulas for quick, solid suppers, this was the twelfth series hosted by Pépin and produced by KQED Public Media in San Francisco. His diary, The Apprentice: My Life in the Kitchen, was distributed by Houghton Mifflin in 2003.
