James Acaster is an English comedian who was born on January 9, 1985, in Kettering, United Kingdom. Acaster attended Montagu Secondary School in his hometown before pursuing a music degree at Northampton College. Acaster started off his career as a musician who played drums in local bands in Northamptonshire. Some of the bands that Acaster has performed with include Pindrop, Three Line Whip, The New Hardcore Skiffle Movement, The Capri-Sun Quartet, and The Wow! Scenario.
During his time with the Capri-Sun Quarter, Acaster went by the name William Strawberry. He went on to record an album with The Wow! Scenario called "Stand in the Star: A Verse and a Chorus" in 2007 but the album was never released. In 2009, Acaster turned to comedy and performed in a show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. He has appeared on the comedy panel show "Mock the Week" and also landed a Netflix deal for a show called "Repertoire" which was a series of four-hour comedy specials. In 2010 and 2011, Acaster toured with comedians Josie Long and Milton Jones. By 2015, Acaster had won two Chortle awards for his performances at Edinburgh. In 2017, Acaster announced he was rejoining with The Wow! Scenario to finish recording "Stand in the Star: A Verse and a Chorus". The album released on Bandcamp in 2018.
