John Slattery is known as an American actor and director. He is most famous for his role as <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Sterling">Roger Sterling</a> in the popular AMC drama series Mad Men.

Background

<a href="/biography/john-slattery">John M. Slattery Jr.</a> was born on August 13, 1962 in Boston, Massachusetts. He is the <a href="/biography/john-slattery">son</a> of Joan Mulhern. His mom worked as a CPA. His father, John "Jack" Slattery worked as a leather merchant to make a living in support of the family. Both his parents are of Irish descent.

When he completed his college education, he received his bachelor’s degree from the Catholic University of America in 1984.

Career

John landed his first TV role on the 1988 series The Dirty Dozen and has worked consistently since his first big break. His long television career has included the short-lived series Under Cover (1991), Homefront (1991), Maggie (1998) and Feds (1997). He was also in the mini-series, A Woman of Independent Means (1995) with <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sally_Field">Sally Field</a>.

Some of his biggest acting credits include the role of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howard_Stark">Howard Stark</a> in cameo appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Iron Man 2, Ant-Man, and Captain America: Civil War. After Mad Men ended, he was happy to be making steady money as a member of the Marvel Universe.
