John Terry is an English football coach and former professional footballer who was born on December 7, 1980, Barking, London where he attended Eastbury Comprehensive School. Terry played on the local Sunday league team Senrab which featured several other future Premier League players such as Sol Campbell and Bobby Zamora. Growing up in London, Terry was part of West Ham United's youth system which he joined as a midfielder in 1991. At age 14, Terry moved to Chelsea so he could play for the club's youth and reserve teams. Terry finished school and joined the club on a youth training scheme at age 16. A year later he would be signed on under professional terms. Terry made his Chelsea debut on October 28, 1998 as a substitute in a League Cup game that ended in a tie with Aston Villa.
Terry's first start would come later that season in an FA Cup third-round match where his team won 2-0 against Oldham Atheltic. Terry was soon captain of the Chelsea team, the England national team but he eventually retired as a player and took on the role of coach. He is known for his aggressive style and his great leadership as well as a cunning ability to read the game.
