Jonathan Groff is an American <a href="/biography/jonathan-groff">actor</a> and singer best known for his roles in the Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening and the Netflix series Mindhunter.

<h2>Early Life and Education</h2>

<a href="/biography/jonathan-groff">Jonathan Drew Groff</a> was born on March 26, 1985, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. His mother, Julie Groff, is a physical education teacher, and his father, Jim Groff, is a horse trainer. Jonathan grew up alongside his older <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Fincher">brother</a>, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Fincher">David</a>, in a conservative Mennonite community. He attended Conestoga Valley High School, graduating in 2003.

After high school, Groff was accepted into Carnegie Mellon University; however, he postponed his enrollment to join the national tour of The Sound of Music.
