Ken Rosato is known as an American journalist and news anchor. He is most famous for his work on WABC-TV.
Ken Rosato was born on May 4, 1967 in New Rochelle, New York, United States. Ken holds a bachelor's degree in Television and Radio along with a master's degree in Italian from New York University.
Since 2007, Ken Rosato has been successful at maintaining solid ratings for Eyewitness News at Noon and Eyewitness News This Morning in collaboration with the 'Rating Magnet of WABC-TV" Lori Stokes.
Ken replaced news anchor Steve Bartelestein in 2007 after Bartelestein was fired for sleeping while at work. The management had no other option left other than to fire Steve who chose to sleep instead of discussing the critical Bronx Fire issue after the newsbreak. This incident proved how important Eyewitness is for the network. Steve and Lori were the ones who improved the dwindling ratings of the Eyewitness News program back in the 2000's.
WABC-TV conducted a four-month search for another "Eyewitness News This Morning" co-anchor before awarding the spot to Ken Rosato. Rosato, who had been outsourcing at Ch. 7 since 2003, was set to take over authoritatively as an anchor of the morning and early afternoon newscasts nearby Lori Stokes and meteorologist Bill Evans.
Ch. 7 news director Kenny Plotnik told the Daily News, "We think he's the right fit for our morning. He brings personality, maturity, a sense of humor, and, most importantly, journalistic credibility." Rosato filled a space that has been open since Steve Bartelstein was terminated in March. Since Bartelstein left, the station has filled his space with a few Ch. 7 staff members, including Joe Torres, Jeff Rossen, Michelle Charlesworth, and Lisa Colagrossi. Rosato, a former anchor for WNYW/Ch. 5, stood apart when he got in the seat close to Stokes.
In February 2006, while doing a live segment for the morning news, Rosato and his team were somewhere around a tractor trailer. The scene unfurled on-air, startling watchers and the anchor group but Rosato was fine. Plotnik said he was not shocked by Rosato's comfort level at the anchor work area during the tryout time frame. He knew that Rosato would be ready for the task.
Prior to joining WABC, Ken Rosato earned valuable experience working for other reputed networks such as WNYW-TV (Anchor, 2002-2003), WFOR-TV (Anchor, 1998-2002), WLIW21 (panelist for WLIW21 edition), 1010 WINS Radio (1997-1998, Anchor), WLNY-TV (1996-1997News Director/Main Anchor), WBLI-FM/Long Island (1989-1996, News director and Main anchor) and WVIP (AM Program Director/DJ 1985-1989).
Ken has been recognized his work with the honor of 5 Emmy Awards. Ken is someone who made an unbelievable transition from a reporter to a successful anchor competing against numerous reputed reporters and anchors at WABC.
