Kris Letang is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenseman who was born on April 24, 1987, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He started off playing juniors in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for three seasons. On May 29, 2008, he lost one of his best friends, Luc Bourdon in a motorcycle accident. He was a defensive prospect for the Vancouver Canucks when he died. Letang planned on buying a motorcycle as well but the death of Bourdon changed his mind. The two were teammates in junior with the Val-d'Or Foreurs and the Canadian Junior team. Letang went on to become selected 62nd overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins. By Letang's second NFL season, he had won the Stanley Cup with the Penguins.
He won again in 2016 against the San Jose Sharks and again against the Nashville Predators in 2017 making him a three-time Stanley Cup Champion. Letang is in a long-term relationship with Catherine Laflamme who he had a son with in November of 2012. The couple announced the coming of a second child, a daughter who was born in July of 2018. Laflamme has appeared in the third season of the Canadian reality television series "Hockey Wives".
