Lamman Rucker was born on October 6, 1971, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to parents Eric Rucker and Malaya Rucker. His father was a drummer, and his mother operated her own dance company, both contributing to a creatively nurturing environment. Rucker spent much of his childhood in the Maryland area within Greater Washington, D.C. He had two younger siblings—a sister and a brother. Sadly, his younger brother passed away at a very young age.
