Lauren Simonetti was born on October 10, 1984 in Manhattan, New York, New York. She is Italian by ethnicity. She has stated that she was always interested in the media world from a young age. In HudsonMOD magazine's November Issue, Lauren credited her mother for putting the idea of journalism in her sights. She stated "We had storytelling contests in grade school. We'd memorize a story and then recite it in front of an audience. It was esentially a big contest. I did it for a few years and even won some competitions. My Mother suggested that I should be a television reporter. She put the idea in my head. I ran with it. I'm the person who always listens to my mother, evne if not at first. She's been my biggest inspiration."
Lauren attended St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School in Huguenot. She graduated with high honors from George Washington Unvieristy as Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in English. During this time she was a presidental scholar and spent a semester at sea where she sailed around the world and studied in 10 different countries. She continued her education at Columbia University, Manhattan and obtained her Masters Degree in English with an emphasis on comparative literature.
She started her media career as an assistant producer for “Lou Dobbs Tonight” which afforded her the opportunity to later work for CNN as an associate producer. She worked on programs for CNN, Headline News, and CNN International. Her two final years at CNN were at the New York Stock Exchange where she was the sole business producer. There she interviewed many famous investors and head of companies including the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations (NASDAQ), New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME.) In an interview, she reminisced "The stock exchange was totally scary... I would read the Wall Street Journal with a highlighter. I had no idea what was going on. It's a totally different language but there were just so many people. You would physically get lost and intimidated being around all of these men and I just started to ask questions and feel more comfortable and the freelance job turned into a permalance kind of gig." In September of 2007 she joined the Fox Business Network (FBN) as a field producter. Her hard work paid off and in September of 2011 she accepted a position as a reporter. She has covered major news including the 2008 financial crisis, bankruptcy of the Lehman Brothers, Gulf Oil Spill, Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme, and many others. She is currently the co-host of the program FBN:AM.
In May of 2014, Lauren was awarded the Italian-American Achievement Award by the NYPD Columbia Association. One of the organization's missions is to make a concerted effort to increase the knowledge and understanding of the culture heritage that unites all members and develop an understanding and appreciation of the contributions made by Italians and Italian-Americans towards the nation's developments. Lauren stated that she was "beyond honored and humbled by the sincerity and generosity of the Association" and that to her being Italian-American means "to love and respect family and friends, to be generous with time, efforts, and energy (and good), to dance and laugh, and to be thankful."

Although Lauren has an active Twitter with over 43,000 followers, Facebook with over 25,000 followers, and Instagram with almost 18,000, she tends to keep the innermost details of her personal life away from the spotlight. One thing she has opened up about was meeting her husband, Mark Cubrilo. Mark currently works as a satellite engineer for the Fox News Channel, where they first met. They had never connected on a personal level, however, until an ill-fated dinner party. Mark had organized the event and invited the entire work staff, but only Mark and Lauren had attended. It was not a trick: the other staff canceled due to various personal and work related reasons, leaving Mark and Lauren to an awkward meal together.
Upon leaving dinner, they realized that it was Halloween night, which may plausibly account for so many of their coworkers' absences. They saw a group of college students, asked them for their costumes, and had an evening of playful fun. They unofficially became a couple that night. After a few weeks, Mark's older brother met her at a gathering and broke the secret that Mark had a crush on her. They had their first date under the pretext of 'just lunch.' After a series of these dates, strolls in the park, and museum visits, the relationship turned serious. Days after Lauren's birthday, Mark asked her hand in marriage at a private dinner. Six months later they were married on October 1, 2001 in Crystal Plaza, Livingston, New Jersey. They traveled to Tanzania and Zanzibar, Africa for their honeymoon. She has been quoted saying that her husband has very good taste in travel destinations.
When asked what she finds most attractive in her husband, she has stated that he is selfless, caring, and has a true understanding of the meaning of the term “busy.” Her Instagram profile states: "I'll sleep when I'm dead." Mark understands that his wife has a busy schedule, and the flexibility of their relationship affords them the opportunity to travel frequently to exotic locations. Lauren also volunteers her time to numerous charity organizations including NephCure Kidney International. She is also a member of the New York Financial Writer's Association. Lauren and Mark currently reside in Manhattan and have one daughter together, Rae Vivian, with another child due in Spring.
Lauren's advice to the next generation of journalists? In HudsonMOD magazine, she stated the following: "I always tell our interns and production assistants to wait. The magic age is around 30. It's hard to have credibility when you're so young. I say be patient, ask plenty of questions and always volunteer to do more!" When asked where she would like to see herself in 10 years, she responded "Happy!"
