Mark Ingram Jr. is a professional American footballer, who plays in the role of a running back for the New Orleans Saints in the National Football League (NFL). As a college student, he played for University of Alabama, and was a national champion of his time. He is a terrific runner who also ran Track and Field in his school days. As a sprinter, he used to run a 100 meter tack in 10.6 seconds and a 200 meter track in 22 seconds. His athleticism and strength are his valuable assets and had been listed as the No. 17 athlete in the entire nation, back in 2008. He also received an athletic scholarship to University of Alabama, and he played for his college’s Alabama Crimson Tide football team for two years starting 2008. With an average score in his ball returns, he has got a high average point in his sprinting and tackles, which are two important assets for any player.
Mark was born on the 21st of December, 1989 in Hackensack, New Jersey, USA. His father was Mark Ingram, Sr. who played as a wing player in NFL and is his inspiration. Attending the Grand Blanc Community High School in Grand Blanc, Michigan; he played for his school team and later changed to Flint Southwestern Academy from where he graduated. With his exceptional sprinting pace and a technical ability to the game, he was named as the Most Valuable Player of his team and was also selected for the Area Player of the Year. Born in a black community, he is an American by nationality.
Between 2009 and 2010, he played for his college’s sophomore year and was the fastest sprinter of his team. While playing against the team of South Carolina in the October of 2009, he ran a length of 246 yards, which was the highest of his career. Named as the Offensive Player of the Week by SEC, he ran a 113 yards against the undefeated Florida Gators in the 2009 SEC Championship Game. For his performance, he was voted the Heisman Trophy in the December of 2009, becoming one of the only three sophomore players to win that title. He was provided the first- team honors by many organizations like Football Writers Association of America, Walter Camp Football Foundation, Associated Press and many others. After winning the BCS National Championship against Texas in January 7, 2010; he was regarded as the unanimous first-team All-American player.
After playing another fantastic season with his Junior year team, he finished with a total of 875 yards running, 13 touchdowns and an extra 282 yards receiving touchdown. In 2011, he expressed his feeling of wanting to play at the elite level, with a NFL team and during selection, was picked by New Orleans Saints in the 2011 NFL Draft. Their pick was learnt via New England Patriots, who knew better about Ingram through their assistant coach Nick Saban. He received the no.28 Jersey, and made a deal with the Saints for four years, with about 10 million dollars contract.
