Michelle Caruso Cabrera grew up in New Hampshire. She studied at Wellesley College where she received her bachelor‘s degree in economics. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Madeleine Albright, Diane Sawyer were a few other notable personalities who attended the college. She is married to Paulo Lima.

Michelle Caruso started her career as a stringer for New York Times. She later shifted to Univision, where she worked as special projects reporter. She then moved on to WTSP-TV located in St. Petersburg, Florida. She worked for four years there as the general assignment reporter. She joined CNBC in the year 1998. She was also the co-host of the show Power Lunch, which is a one hour program that aired between 1 and 2 pm ET along with Tyler Mathisen and Sue Herera.

During her broadcasting career, she covered the European financial crisis reporting from Rome, Frankfurt, and Athens. She had warned viewers about the risk of default and the effect on the world economy. She has done several one hour documentaries which include The Race to Rebuild: America’s Infrastructure and Liquid Assets: The Big Business of Water. She also reported on the economies of Brazil, Cuba, and Venezuela and the War in Iraq and its impact on the country’s economy.
Awards
Michelle Caruso Cabrera has won many awards and recognitions during her career in journalism including an Emmy award for her five part story on children affected with AIDS. She was also nominated for an Emmy for her report on the sexual abuse inflicted by clergymen. She was also honored with the Broadcast Journalist of the year award in 2004 by the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. Cabrera is also a board member of Ballet Folklorico in New York City. She was also named as one of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics by the Hispanic Business magazine.
Michelle Caruso Cabrera is a strong supporter of free market capitalism. She is also an author and wrote her first book titled ‘You Know I’m Right: More Prosperity, Less Government’, which was published in the year 2010. She has also written a personal finance column at Shape en Espanol, which deals with issues concerning Latin speaking people. She also contributes to People en Espanol on a monthly basis.
