Morgan Saylor is an American actress best known for her work in television and independent film. She was born in Chicago, Illinois. Her mother worked in retail for REI, while her father was employed in construction and renovation projects for Starbucks. Following her parents' divorce, Saylor moved with her family to Georgia. She initially lived in Villa Rica and later relocated to Decatur at the age of ten.
Saylor began acting at a young age, enrolling in acting camps organized by the Department of Recreation. She took on local theater roles, including playing Alana in a production for Onstage Atlanta and portraying Susan Walker in a rendition of Miracle on 34th Street. In the fourth grade, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting more seriously. During this time, she voiced young Meadow in the HBO series The Sopranos.
At the age of 11, she signed with talent agent Joy Pervis and began appearing in radio commercials and television advertisements. She landed small roles in films such as Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant as Annie and Father of Invention as Claire in 2010. That same year, she auditioned for the Showtime series Homeland and was cast as Dana Brody, a role she played during the show's first three seasons.
Her portrayal of Dana Brody in Homeland brought Saylor significant recognition. As part of the ensemble cast, she was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series in both 2013 and 2014. Homeland was a critically acclaimed series and marked a turning point in Saylor's acting career.
Venturing into theater, Saylor made her stage debut with the Manhattan Theatre Club, playing the role of Penny in Sarah Treem’s When We Were Young and Unafraid, directed by Pam MacKinnon. In 2014, she starred as Gracie Highsmith in Jamie Marks Is Dead, a film adaptation of Christopher Barzak’s novel One for Sorrow. The film was directed by Carter Smith.
Saylor continued to build her résumé with roles in several feature films. In 2015, she played Julie, the daughter of Kevin Costner’s character, in the sports drama McFarland, USA. She also starred as Leah in the independent drama White Girl, directed and written by Elizabeth Wood. Additionally, she appeared in Rob Reiner's film Being Charlie, acting alongside Common and Nick Robinson.
Saylor attended Montessori schools until eighth grade and later graduated from high school in 2013. She then moved to the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, where she lived with her boyfriend and brother. She has been in a relationship since 2012. Both she and her brother have matching anchor tattoos—hers is located near her left ear, while his is on his forearm.
Outside of acting, Morgan Saylor enjoys rock climbing and had expressed an intention to study mathematics at the University of Chicago, beginning in the fall of 2015. Her relocation to Atlanta during her youth provided her with expanded opportunities to engage in theater, helping to shape her early passion for acting.
