Morgan Ailis Webb, often nicknamed "Webbie," is a Canadian-American television personality, producer, and actress. Although born in Canada, Webb has stated in interviews that she was raised in the United States. However, during her early appearances on TechTV, she referred to her Canadian roots and frequently spoke about Canada.
As an infant, Webb appeared in several television commercials for major brands, including Gerber Baby Food, McDonald's, and Kenner Toys. Her parents maintained strict household rules regarding television consumption, which led her to develop a passion for video games instead. She began playing with early titles such as Combat and later became deeply interested in iconic games like Phantasy Star and The Legend of Zelda. Over time, her enthusiasm expanded from gaming to a curiosity about game creation.
Webb completed her early education at Walter Reed Middle School and North Hollywood High School. She later attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she earned a bachelor's degree in rhetoric in 2000.
While pursuing her degree, Webb worked as a website administrator. In 2001, she joined TechTV as an associate producer for The Screen Savers. Her on-screen presence expanded when she co-hosted Call for Help with Chris Pirillo from 2002 to 2003. She departed Call for Help in 2003.
Webb later became a co-host and senior segment producer for X-Play, a G4 television program dedicated to video game reviews and news, which gained a dedicated fanbase before being canceled. From 2007 to 2009, she hosted WebbAlert, a daily video blog that covered the day’s top tech news. During this time, she also contributed as a monthly columnist to the U.S. edition of FHM magazine, where her video game column was titled “Tips from the Gaming Goddess.”
Following the 2004 merger of G4 and TechTV, Webb was one of only six original TechTV employees to remain with the combined network. In 2009, she took on the role of host for the investigative series G4 Underground. Later, in 2013, she co-anchored Microsoft’s Xbox briefing during E3, highlighting her continued presence in the gaming and technology industries.
Webb currently serves as a creative advisor and consultant for Activision Blizzard. In this role, she contributes to various projects and maintains involvement in several of Blizzard Entertainment’s World of Warcraft programs, which she continues to host and produce.
Webb gained attention in mainstream media with a feature in Maxim magazine’s July 2004 issue. She continued to appear in media throughout the mid-2000s and was named one of Maxim’s “Hot 100” sexiest women in the world for three consecutive years: 2005 (#73), 2006 (#62), and 2007 (#51). Additionally, several other publications recognized her as one of the hottest women of the year, contributing to her growing popularity beyond tech and gaming circles.
She also appeared in the music video for “Strange New Element” by the band Low Water, and was featured in the album artwork for their release Hard Words in a Speakeasy.
Morgan Webb married author and entrepreneur Rob Reid on August 19, 2006. The couple has maintained a relatively private personal life, with Webb choosing to focus public attention on her professional endeavors.
Webb maintains an active online presence, particularly on platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, where fans can stay updated on her latest projects and appearances. Her estimated net worth is approximately $200,000, reflective of her long-standing contributions to television, video gaming, and media consulting.
