Olly Murs is an English singer-songwriter, television presenter, and actor who was born on May 14, 1984, in Witham, United Kingdom. Murs was born to Vicky-Lynn and Pete Murs and has a twin brother named Ben Murs, and a sister named Fay Murs. Murs attended Howbridge Junior School in Witham and Notley High School in Braintree, Essex where he played on the school's football team. Between 2006 and 2008, Murs played semi-professionally for Isthmian Division One North side Witham Town. After an injury ended his football career, Murs began pursuing a job as a recruitment consultant at Prime Appointments in Witham. Murs even performed as part of a cover band called the Small Town Blaggers. In 2007, he appeared on the game show "Deal or No Deal". He once again appeared on the show in 2012. Murs auditioned for the sixth series of The X-Factor in 2009 performing Stevie Wonder's song "Superstition".
His performance earned him praise from the hardest judge to please, Simon Cowell. In 2020, Murs released his debut single "Please Don't Let Me Go". The song reached number one on the UK Singles Chart and launched him into stardom. He has been releasing his own albums ever since with his most recent being "You Don't Know Love" which was released in July of 2018.
