Phil Taylor is known as an English retired professional darts player. In his career, he was nicknamed The Power. He is famous for being widely regarded as the greatest darts player of all time.
Career
The greatest of all time is not a label that is given lightly in any sport. Phil Taylor has a credible claim to the throne when it comes to darts after having won 214 professional tournaments, including 85 major titles and a record 16 World Championships.
Taylor emerged onto the darts scene at the end of the 1980's. He has rewritten the history books ever since he stepped into the game. As a protégé of five-time World Champion Eric Bristow, he won up his first major title at the 1990 Embassy Championship with a 6-1 beating of his mentor. It was time for the student to pass the master and Taylor did it with style.
He went on to add the 1990 World Masters title to his trophy chest before picking up a second World Championship two years later in one of darts' greatest competitive matches against Mike Gregory.
Since the creation of the PDC, Taylor has dominated the game of professional darts and picked up an unmatched number of titles that may never be beat.
