<h2>Piers Akerman is an Australian <a href="/biography/piers-akerman">journalist</a> and columnist for The Daily Telegraph in Sydney.</h2>

<p>Piers Akerman was born June 12, 1950 in Papua New Guinea. He was raised in Perth, Western Australia. He worked at The West Australian, Newsday, and the Daily Mirror. He also worked for a British national newspaper, The Times, and was a foreign correspondent in the United States for ten years. He became vice-president of Fox News in the USA in 1993.</p>

<p>Piers is known for being a climate change skeptic of which he is very outspoken. He has also mentioned that marriage equality should not be a current pressing issue in Australia. He has been accused of sexual harassment on multiple different accounts and once allegedly threatened to assault the literary editor of The Advertiser. </p>

<p>Piers met his wife, Suzanne, at Newport, Rhode Island while covering the 1974 America's Cup. They were married in Connecticut and have two children. They currently live in Sydney, Australia.</p>
