Rilee Rossouw was born in 1989 in Bloemfontein, located in the Orange Free State province of South Africa. A talented left-handed batsman and right-arm off-spin bowler, Rossouw represented South Africa in international cricket and played significant roles in domestic leagues. He began his domestic career with Free State and the Knights before signing with Hampshire County Cricket Club in England in 2017.
Rossouw made his first-class debut in 2007 for Free State against Easterns, where he batted at number three and top-scored with 83 runs. His promising performance set the stage for a consistent presence in domestic cricket. He also represented the Eagles in franchise cricket, frequently contributing during the 2008 and 2009 SuperSport Series seasons.
Rossouw’s maiden first-class century came in 2008 against the Titans, scoring 106 with over 20 boundaries. In a return fixture in March 2009, he again impressed with a score of 109 in a team total of 178. Remarkably, no other teammate surpassed 16 runs in that match. Despite his efforts, the Eagles lost to the Titans, who were eventual champions. In the limited-overs format, he hit his first List A century with a 131-run knock off 108 balls against the Warriors.
The 2009/10 domestic season was a standout for Rossouw. He accumulated 1,291 runs at an average of 57.61, which included a monumental triple century—319 runs off just 291 balls—against the Titans. This innings became the fastest triple century in South African domestic cricket at the time. The knock featured 47 boundaries and 8 sixes. Alongside Dean Elgar, Rossouw shared a second-wicket partnership of 480 runs in 84 overs, which became the highest partnership for any wicket in South African domestic cricket.
Rossouw’s performances at the domestic level paved the way for international selections. He was chosen for tours to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, where he continued his form. Notably, he scored 131 runs off 151 balls against Sri Lanka A, contributing to a winning effort alongside a century partnership with teammates Jonathan Vandiar and Dean Elgar.
Rossouw attended Grey College in Bloemfontein, an institution known for producing top athletes. During his school years, he was selected to represent the South African Schools team. He later made his debut for the South Africa Under-19 team in the second Test against Bangladesh in 2007, marking the beginning of his journey in international cricket.
Rilee Rossouw is married to Marike Jana, and the couple has one daughter. His career faced a temporary setback due to a shoulder injury sustained during a tour in the Caribbean, after which he returned home for surgery. Despite this challenge, he remained a respected figure in cricket both domestically and internationally. As of now, no official data is publicly available regarding his net worth.
