<p>Robert Blake, born <a href="/biography/robert-blake">Michael James Gubitosi</a> on September 18, 1933, in Nutley, New Jersey, is a former American actor best known for his extensive career in film and television. He was the <a href="/biography/robert-blake">son</a> of Elizabeth Cafone and Giacomo Gubitosi. Blake began acting at a young age under the stage name <a href="/biography/robert-blake">Mickey Gubitosi</a>. His first credited role was as Toto in the 1939 MGM film <em>Bridal Suite</em>.</p>

<p>Shortly afterward, Blake became a regular in MGM’s popular short-subject <a href="/biography/robert-blake">series</a> <em><a href="/biography/robert-blake">Our Gang</a></em>, also known as <em>The Little Rascals</em>. From 1939 to 1944, he appeared in over 40 of these shorts, eventually becoming one of the lead characters. In 1942, Blake portrayed Tooky Stedman in <em>Andy Hardy's Double Life</em>. He made his final appearance in the series with <em>Dancing Romeo</em> in 1944.</p>
