Salazar was born on July 16, 1985 in Washington, D.C. and she grew up in nearby Greenbelt, Maryland. She first began acting after moving to New York City, where she got her start working with the comedy sketch company CollegeHumor. In 2009, she moved to Los Angeles to advance her career to the next level, where she quickly nabbed roles on the popular television series Parenthood and American Horror Story: Murder House. She later graduated on to film, getting roles in the highly popular <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maze_Runner_(film_series)">Maze Runner</a> and <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Divergent_Series">Divergent</a> movie series.</p>
