He begun with an initial average of 4.3 ppg and didn’t receive great attention throughout his college career. However, he showed steady and gradual improvement and finished off with an average of 23.6 points and 10 rebound per game. It was the beginning of Pippen’s glorious era with the Chicago Bulls. He teamed up with Michael Jordan and won three consecutive NBA titles. He did combat a rough patch on the personal front in 1990 when the news of his divorce spread. However, there was no stopping Pippen in his bright career.
Post 1991 Pippen and Jordan led the Bulls team to consecutive wins over the next seven seasons. While Jordan was the face of their victorious dream run, Pippen was the most invaluable defensive and forward player who complemented Jordan. He was an eight time member of the NBA all defensive first team and a seven time NBA all star. He, along with Jordan, Magic Johnson and other great players of the NBA formed the ‘Dream Team’ for the Olympics in 1992. Thereafter he won two Olympic gold medals one in 1992 and the other in 1996.
